Most general liability policies for swim instructors cover both private and group instruction under the same policy, but scope, limits, and exclusions vary by carrier. Disclose all your instruction formats on the application.
Being listed on the pool owner's policy is not the same as having your own coverage. Your own GL policy protects you — the pool owner's policy protects them. Many facilities will also require you to carry your own policy and name them as an additional insured on yours.
