Frequently asked questions
Does my landlord’s insurance cover my stuff?
No. A landlord policy covers the building and the landlord’s liability — not your belongings or your personal liability. Renters insurance is generally what responds for you.
Is renters insurance required?
Many landlords require it in the lease. Even when not required, it is generally intended to protect your belongings and you for relatively little cost.
Does it cover roommates?
Usually each person should carry their own policy unless a roommate is specifically added. Confirm how your household is covered.
