Coverage built for dog groomers and pet groomers — including general liability, animal bailee, and animal-floater concepts.
Most dog groomer / pet groomer operations consider one or more of these coverage types:
These are hypothetical examples only. Actual coverage depends on the policy form, exclusions, and carrier determination.
Animal bailee coverage — sometimes called "care, custody, and control" — is generally intended to address allegations that an animal in your professional care was injured, became ill, or died during your services. Standard general liability typically excludes property in your care, custody, or control, so a bailee endorsement is generally required to address that gap.
An animal floater is an inland-marine-style coverage that schedules animals in your care. It overlaps with animal bailee in some forms. Coverage scope, limits, and exclusions vary widely by carrier; review the form before binding.
Most groomers carry both. General liability is generally intended to respond to third-party human injury and property damage at your location. Animal bailee is generally intended to respond to allegations involving the animals themselves.
Mobile grooming exposures (auto, on-site at customer homes) are sometimes excluded from standard shop policies. Disclose mobile operations on the application — additional endorsements or a commercial auto policy may be required.
Some carriers restrict or exclude specific breeds. Disclose breed mix on the application.
