Florida animal & wildlife control insurance

Florida nuisance wildlife and animal control operators generally carry general liability as their core policy, built around the third-party injury and property-damage exposure of trapping, exclusion, and removal work on someone else’s property.

Licensing & permits in Florida

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) does not currently license nuisance wildlife trappers, though operators may voluntarily register on the FWC’s Wildlife Trapper List. A rule change effective December 31, 2026 will require commercial trappers to obtain a permit (no fee) and report trapping data annually. Operators removing rodents from structures should also check with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DOACS). Confirm current requirements with FWC before taking on work.

Operating rules to know

Traps must generally be inspected at least once every 24 hours, and captured nuisance wildlife must be relocated or humanely euthanized off-site within 24 hours of capture.

Who needs it in Florida

Common Florida work includes raccoon, opossum, and armadillo removal, bat and rodent exclusion from structures, and snake and alligator nuisance calls across Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville.
