Clown Insurance

Coverage built for clowns and children's party performers — focused on the real risks of working a crowded venue.

What this coverage is intended to address

Important: Coverage terms, eligibility, and pricing are determined by the carrier and vary by state and individual circumstance. The information on this page is general and educational — nothing here implies, affords, or offers any specific insurance coverage. Review the actual policy form and consult a licensed insurance professional before binding.

Coverage products commonly considered

Most clown operations consider one or more of these coverage types:

General Liability
Inland Marine (Gear)
Event-Cancellation (where applicable)

Hypothetical claim scenarios

These are hypothetical examples only. Actual coverage depends on the policy form, exclusions, and carrier determination.

Frequently asked questions

Why do venues ask clowns for a certificate of insurance?

Many event halls, schools, and municipalities require performers to carry general liability and to name the venue as additional insured before they will confirm a booking. The certificate documents that coverage is in force; it does not itself change what the policy covers.

Are my costumes and props insured?

Costumes, makeup kits, and props are typically treated as business equipment. They may be addressed under inland marine when scheduled on the policy. Mobile gear is often excluded under a general liability form alone, so review the terms before relying on it.
